The Audrey Jacket | Le Smoking for Tall Women
Posted on June 13, 2014 by Farah Yaktine
In 1966, the Algerian born designer Yves Saint Laurent dropped the bomb in the history of fashion that revolutionized womenswear and redefined the female gender forevermore. The creation of “Le Smoking” was a turning point that marked the power of women in society and is now a quintessential staple that every woman should have in her closet.
At One Seven Three, we have our very own version of Le Smoking: The Audrey Jacket. It is an essential tailored jacket, designed with longer length sleeves for tall women like us. Its cut is designed in a way that flatters the single breasted shape with a single button for fastening, buttoned cuffs and slit pockets. The Audrey Jacket is a modern adaptation of Le Smoking with a slim collar for a clean, streamlined look. With a beautiful contrast stripe lining in the arms, it offers extra style points for when the sleeves are turned up.
Like women, blazers come in all shapes and sizes. And like women, they work best when you know their strengths and steer clear of their weaknesses. For tall women like us, there are certain shapes, fabrics, colors and patterns that flatter us. Look out for the upcoming weeks’ blog posts to get tips on how to wear this blazer. We will also be demonstrating in the next features the blazer’s versatility, and how it can be worn for all different occasions and outings, as well as discuss some more benefits of the blazer. Keep a look out!
